Frequently Asked Questions
What is the goal of WCPA?
The Westchester County Probation Association is the voice of those who dedicate their lives to the protection, safety, and quality of life in the communities we serve. As highly skilled and dedicated professionals, we are committed to improving the working conditions of probation officers and the safety of those we serve through education, legislation, information, community involvement, and employee representation.
What does it offer if I join today?
The time is now, as they say. We have sat around year after year, promised to be recognized for the work we do. The fact of the matter is that as each year passes, more and more is being asked of every officer, and this needs to be recognized and compensated appropriately. It is time that the County views Westchester County Probation as an equal in the Law Enforcement Community.
What benefits are county benefits and not CSEA benefits?
The short answer is honestly most things. We are fortunate that Westchester County provides us with medical, dental, vision, and prescription benefits as part of being a county employee. Our pensions and deferred comp are also benefits that come with being a County employee. The college reimbursement program is still open to people who opt out of CSEA. You will lose access to the Pearl Carroll plans, but if that is something you are interested in, we can help you find a similar plan. Just let us know.
Is there a way to join besides Paypal?
Currently, there is no way to join other than through PayPal. With that being said, please keep in mind that PayPal is just a payment processing system; you can still pay through credit card, debit card, etc. We highly recommend that members use a credit card as their method of payment.
How do I join? Who do I reach out to if I have questions?
Chances are, the person sitting next to you already has, and they would be more than happy to help you. However, if you need more information, reach out to one of our current board members, visit our website (Wcpany.com), or shoot us an email (WCPA@usua1.com).
I joined through Step 1 on the website. Am I now officially a member?
No, you must go through both steps, which will also set up your payments to become a full member with legal coverage. If you are having trouble with this, please do not hesitate to shoot us an email.
What are these forms that have been emailed to me now that I officially joined (through Steps 1 and 2)?
The forms are used to collect basic information as part of our legal defense program and membership process.
If I have an EEO, disciplinary, or other similar issue, what do I do?
Reach out to WCPA Support to be referred to our affiliated law firm.
